Dear Dr.Santosh Helekar,Cecil Pinto,Rene Barreto and other jury members, Excellent choice, indeed! I do not think there is a more deserving person for this award in Goa. Organizing citizens consume fora in every nook and corner of Goa,fighting for children's rights,organizing the Friday Balcao[discussion group on current topics] are just some of the things that Roland Martins does. The prize is well deserved by the one that will receive it. Rs.13,666/- is not a big amount,the recognition that comes along with it is.
CONGRATULATIONS ROLAND MARTINS !!! The feeling is greater for me because Roland and I have played[football,hockey,cops and robbers,scrabble,etc] together as kids,made 'cocotes' and participated in mock fights for carnival in 'Feira Alta' ward of Mapusa,studied in the same school[St.Britto HS,where he was my junior] and now often interact on issues of mutual interest. To my mind there isn't a better choice.
