Dear Goanetters, Although the term 'Goan' would not generally include a person born *overseas through a goan descent*, I would gladly accept him as Goan if the other conditions in Oscar's definition are applicable to that person. These are the key ingredients of goan'ness which are unfortunately to be 'reported missing' in may of the netters and so-called niz Goans! However,it is not acceptable to me that anyone of "Goan origin" who achieves fame should be compelled to be called a "Goan" even when he prefers to call himself otherwise. The person should have the first choice.

Dear Sir, I have been a reader of the exchange of various messages posted on goanet some of them with a pinch of salt. To me the definition of a Goan is simply: A person born in Goa *or overseas through a goan descent*, nurtured by parents with cultural values and language. A goan is an hospitable person, sharing and caring without ulterior motives and not ashamed to learn and talk Konkani and keep the cultural torch burning. Oscar C.
