Dear Roland, I do hope the consulting agency is 'professional' and not just named so [ as in "Professional Couriers',etc] Are we still in search of 18 holes in the ground in which the 'high end' tourists can bang the golf balls and we die of thirst while the lawns are watered from our dinking water sources? Let the Govt. ensure 24 hour water supply...or at least 12 hours of water during the daytime...before going for the golf courses...or take an undertaking fron N.Suryanarayan that he will live in Goa after his retirement[voluntary or otherwise],if the golf courses are approved. The only good news is that the feasibility study will not burn a hole in the pocket of the Goa State Treasury.Reports of many such studies are gathering dust in the Secretariat. One more won't make a difference if it does not get the attention as the dubious report on Oil Palm received in 1991. After a dozen years, the area under oil palmin Goa [according to one optimistic report 1400 hectares in 2003] is less than the area of 1500 hectares projected for first year [1992-93] alone. I know, for I have co-ordinate the scheme for the next two years and told the Department officials and the Godrej representatives that it was a pipe dream.
Time to wake up to ground realities. Viva Goa.
