Dear Goanetters,
I believe in God. I also believe that I do not have the right to impose my
belief on those that do not believe. I detest being woken up at dawn with
the muezzin's call in a foreign language amplified and broadcast to the
faithfull and infidels alike. I like to wake up with sunrise. I also do not
approve the use of loudspeakers by churches and temples, specially when these
devices are prohibited by law [ as in India under the Environmental
Protection Act]. Religion is not above the law.

TV viewers have the choice of changing channel or switching the TV off. What
does one do if his residence is next to a 'place of worship' that defies the
law? Which religion believes in a deaf God? Why must prayers be heard by
others if they are our conversation with God? Does God nedd
eavesdroppers...or we need witnesses to our prayers?

If I had a choice, I would vote for Madeline O'Hare's proposal with one
modification : to allow the Christmas party for the kids!

Viva Goa.
