This decision was taken at the first meeting of the Committee held in the chamber of the Deputy Collector on September 10, 2003.
The Panjim Bench of the High Court had appointed a Committee comprising Raghuvir Savardekar, deputy collector, Mapusa, Ratnapal Salkar, Mapusa and Antonio D'Souza, Calangute to place before the court material on the violation of noise pollution limits.
The order had come in the wake of a petition filed by the Goa Environment Federation stating that despite orders of the High Court and the Supreme Court, a few parties in Baga, Vagator and Calangute continue to violate the noise pollution regulations.
The court had also directed that the first report be submitted by November 1, 2003, and there after every three months until further directions of the Court.
The High Court had made clear that these directions were irrespective of the action taken by the respective police stations for violations of law. ------------------------------------ HERALD 12/9/03 page 4 ------------------------------------
