YRC SOCCER TOURNEY & MUSICAL SHOW IN KUWAIT.

Youth Recreation Centre is one of the well-known Indian organizations in Kuwait. It has its own soccer team known as “Rising Stars” which is very popular amongst Indians in Kuwait. YRC is organizing its annual knock-out soccer tournament at Sour Grounds and this year YRC starts celebrating 25 years of its existence. Since this is going to be the Silver Jubilee tournament, surely lot of interest will generate into this tournament. Yesterday 24th inst. at 7.30 p.m., in one of the city hotels YRC organized its draw for the forthcoming tournament which is going to start on 3rd of next month at Sour Ground. This year 12 Indian soccer teams will participate in their knock-out tournament devided into two groups. Group “A” consists of UFC – AVC – CRC – Jai Hind – Kerala Challengers & Rising Stars while group “B” consists of Navelim – Santos – Maroons – UG – Curtorcares & Bombay Boys.

The draw was attended by the representatives of participating teams and it was conducted by the president of YRC Mr. Lawry Pinto. In his presidential address while welcoming the gathering Mr. Pinto lauded the co-operation and support rendered to YRC in the past by the participating teams and requested the same for the forthcoming competition too. Mr. Tony Correia the president of Kuwait Indian Foot-ball Federation in his brief speech assured total co-operation from the apex body under whose supervision the tournament will be organized. Mr. Vohra the former KIFF president and current vice-president of YRC while proposing the vote of thanks volunteered to present a gold coin to any player scoring highest number of goals in their tournament. The job of refereeing will be done by KIFF referees.

During his speech Lawry Pinto said to mark the Silver Jubilee year YRC will organize a mega Konkani musical show on Thursday, 27th November this year at 4.00 p.m. at Indian Arts Circle, Funaitees. In this show the audience will see the amalgamation of Goan and Mangalorean artistes local as well as visiting from Goa-Bombay and Mangalore. From Mangalore the renowned troupe of Wilfy Remimbus will participate and from Bombay the much charismatic and lovely Rita Rose while from Goa the gigantic comedians of Konkani stage Prince Jacob and his brother Humbert and both of them will be accompanied by C.D’Silva. Amongst the local artistes, all the topmosts namely Marcus Vaz, Querobina Carvalho, Sanny de Quepem, Sylvester Vaz, Michael C. D’Silva, Ronney D’Cunha, Vishwas Remimbus, Jyoti Colaco, Johny Suratkal, Lancy Rodrigues, Joylene and Rosary Ferns. The entire show will be staged under the direction of Fidelis Fernandes. The musical score will be provided by a band of 8 instruments, which normally you don’t see for such shows. The show will consists of a play in the form of Skit written and presented by Rosary Ferns with the participation of comedy duo Prince Jacob & Humbert and C. D’Silva as “Garamae” in which role all are awaiting to see him, Rita Rose, Sylvester Vaz, Joylene, Johny Suratkal, Lancy Rodrigues and others. In the singing part, the famed trio RSS (Rosary-Sanny-Sylvester) will delight the audience with their normal attractive trio and Prince Jacob-Humbert-Querobina in their trio will give an added booster for the show while Rita Rose, Prince Jacob, Marcus Vaz, Rosary Ferns, Sanny de Quepem, Querobina, Michael D’Silva and others will entertain the audience with their beautiful solos including duets by Rita Rose/Prince Jacob, children dance, dancing performance by Joyoti and her partner. Wilfy Remimbus will additionally give full satisfaction to the audience by performing his latest items.
