So www.rajannarayan.com solemnly declares that IGO will be *wholly owned* by readers, NOT by managements that are ready and willing to put private profit before Goa's good.
Other than charitable institutions, Trusts, NGOs and organizations that avow to work on a no-profit-no-loss basis, I have not come across a single instance where a private enterprise does not work for private profits. Whatever be Rajan's subterfuge to drum up financial and reader support, fact remains that IGO Ltd. is a private enterprise, committed to making profit. If not, the plan betrays a fatal structural infirmity. As one reads the website further, that however does not appear to be the case. It states that IGO Ltd., committed to the highest of journalistic standards, will also peddle among other things, Tourist guides (a compilation of Tara Narayan's *best* Goa restaurants and lodges, I guess) AND influence in property matters... I am not an entrepreneurial consultant. Given the Goan mindset that Rajan so well understands, wouldn't it be infinitely wiser to open a Land Conversion/Real Estate agency and a modern distillery instead? :-) Valmiki ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
