This is to invite you for the VII th Annual Conference of Nature Environment 
society and transformations  (NEST) to be held at Madras Christian College, 
Tambram, Chennai from 1st to 3rd of November, 2003.

The theme for this years' conference is 'PEOPLE RESOURCES AND RESISTANCE'. 
Nature being increasingly looked upon as resources by the communities as 
well as by the business interests; these very situations have brought about 
increasing conflicts relating to the ownership, sharing and access to the 
resources. Rivers, Water, Oceans, Minerals, Mines, Herbal and medicinal 
plants, food systems, Forests, Mountains, radio-active substances are some 
of them.

The Conflicts have given rise to various Resistance movements in different 
parts of the world. The movements have created assertive spaces and promoted 
intense debates.

The Economic Monopolies are consolidating their powers with increasingly 
wide range of coercive methods leading to violent situations. You are 
invited to participate and also welcome to present a paper on the above 
mentioned theme.
