Personally, I think that would be a tragedy because (i) he who pays the piper calls the tune, as it is said (ii) a list like this, even if it attracts wide participation, thrives more on volunteer involvement rather than financial inputs ... in a word, money is not really needed (iii) our view so far has been against seeking *financial* support ... though we often seek volunteer support, from people like Vincente, Bosco, Daisy and whoever's willing to give it, to build the Goanet further.
Financial problems? Good question... Response: I fully agree with the above sentiments expressed. In the recently posted minutes of meetings held by the Goan Association (U.K.) ltd, Mr Ben Da Costa enquired whether the Association had any powers of control over the ' Goan Voice' published by Mr. Eddie Fernandes. The chariman response was that they Asssociation had contributed a quarter of the running costs! What that statement implied I am not at all sure, Iam though deeply disturbed, it might be a totally innocuous statement, I need clarification. The Goan voice needs funds to continue to publish but not with a 'Parrikar' overseeing what can and what cannot get published! I fully agree with Joe Pereira that Goanet reaches parts that even 'Heinken' cannot, there is a vast amount of readers out there, alas only few who wish to interact. Cheers, Gabe Menezes. ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
