Dear Netters, Today Mother Theresa will be beatified and be called "Blessed" enroute to becoming a "Saint" worthy of the prefix "St." to her name. Even when she was alive,Mother Theresa was known as the "Saint of the Gutters". No one who met her would dispute her saintliness. The dispute of the rationalists is about the so-called 'miracle' of healing Monica Besra, a poor tribal who was under treatment in a government hospital for TB. It agitiates the mind of any sensible person as to why the good name of Mother Theresa [one of a kind] is being put through a dubious experiment enroute to being called "Blessed"[which may become an epithet]
Are we still looking for a "sign" that God/Creator exists....and works through women and men in simple ways. Is it not a miracle enough that a person devotes her entire life for the poor? Would you forsake everything for the poor? Yes, working for the poor is a miracle enough to make one a saint in the eyes of those who believe.Even agnostics will accept Mother Theresa as a saint. She needs Monica Besra for her Sainthood as much as Bill Clinton needed Monica Lewinsky to run his Presidency of USA ! Viva Goa. The rationalists have described as "bunkum" the claim that an Indian tribal woman was cured of a tubercular tumour after she prayed to the revered nun in 1998. Ghosh alleged that Sister Nirmala had "turned this sainthood thing into a business "Do not ridicule Mother Teresa's love and dedicated acts by false claims," > read the single-page leaflet in English signed by Ghosh. > The volunteers held aloft placards that read: "Don't mock Mother Teresa", > "Mother don't bargain for sainthood", "Is good work not enough?" and "Why > resort to fraud?" > --Indo-Asian News Service > Date: Fri, 17 Oct 2003 11:10:38 -0700 (PDT) > From: George Pinto <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [Goanet]Re: THE BEATIFICATION OF MOTHER TERESA > 2. Why are people of color marginalized and do not share in the highest benefits of the church (Papacy, Sainthood)? Recently the Pope canonized 3 European missionaries to Africa but no African at that time. Are Africans, like Goans, doormats for the Church and left to eat crumbs off the table like beggars and servants? > > 5. Why is the Archdiocese of Goa pretending that Kandy, Sri Lanka, has sole jurisdiction over the Blessed Vaz canonization, in effect conviniently washing its hands over the cause of a native Goan, yet it is organizing a celebration for Mother Teresa who had no connection to Goa. I suppose we are not good enough and only white people sent are way are. > > George > > __________________________________ > From: "Ariosto J.
