Adv.Swati Kerkar Kenkre to head Goa State Women's Commission> It is good news that the GSWC has been re-constituted as required by law and the rather unhealthy trend of the Mahila Congress leader being replaced by the BJP Mahila Morcha President has been broken byt the first nominee to the post, Ms. Kunda Chodankar. The new General Secretary of the BJP in Goa for 2003-06,continues to be a member of the GSWC which she was earlier appointed to head.. Justice to women in Goa will now to come with less political flavour.
My contemporary President's Award Girl Guide,Dr.Meenacshi Martins Shukla [daughter of the illustrious freedom fighter,Dr.Jose F.Martins] will be able to make a difference in the GSWC. A little known fact is that Ms.Victoria Fernandes[MLA of Santa Cruz],Ms Fatima Braganza e Antao [the Headmistress of St.Xavier H.School and my sister] and Ms.Candida Fernandes[Under-Secretary(WCD)& the ex-officio Member Secretary] are also the members of the nine [not seven] member GSWC. There is a fair level of balance in the constitution of the Women's Commission this time. May the members work together to deliver justice to their sub-species...the fairer gender which is often subjected to unfair sex in recent times. Viva Goa. Miguel Women's Commission reconstituted ----------------------------------------------------- The Goa State Women's Commission has been reconstituted and ZP member Kunda Chodankar will be the new Chairperson. The term of the panel headed by Dr. Pramod Salgaonkar had expired about two months back.The other members are Archana Kochrekar, Advocate Swati Kerkar, Nina Naik, Fatima Braganza, Dr. Minakshi Martins and Kala Naik.Chodankar who is the former North Goa ZP Vice Chairpersonhas also served as Sarpanch of Penha da Franca village Panchayat.
