Just an info about some of the popular Goan joints serving typical Goan Food. HOPE THIS HELPS THE NETTERS. Where as in Mapusa there were *C.D'Souza, *Cafe Xaviers, *Cafe Aurora and now the *Sunshine at the Aldona Bus-stand.
Thanks Mr. Braganza for that cool list of eating places for "Goan Food". Actually what you meant was obviously "Goan Catholic Food".
There was this place named Pascoal's in the Mapusa market, near the flower vendors, which was one of the only Bar & Restaurants which served Tea/Coffee/Milkshakes etc as well as liquor and Goan Snacks. After an all-night Dance it was particularly comforting to drop in there in the early morning and have a hot coffee with a half-peg of brandy.
Recently I went there and found it converted into a normal Bhaji-Panv joint with a no-snacks Bar-only in the other section. What a disappointment it was.
Cafe Xavier, Cafe Aurora, Royal-T (for a while) are/were unique also because they used to serve a plate of snacks (pattis, croquet, cutlets, chops) and would charge ONLY for that which was consumed. Is this unique to Mapusa? I have not seen it in Panjim, Margao or Vasco. Are there any other like this in Mapusa?
Perhaps Alfonso Bond Braganza could throw some light on this unique service.
