Another one Alphonso, They create Sati; jumping into the FIRE after her husbands death! But is it a practice still???

Yes this is a common practice in India. In fact it is a crime not to commit sati under the indian penal code, and a widow can be sentenced to 10 years RI for not doing so.

I have relatives who have become widows and have not been sentenced to even a second of rigorous imprisonment. Maybe the law enforcement machinery where my relatives live is incomptent. Does anyone have any statistics on how many widows have followed the law and committed sati?
