Goa Sudharop to celebrate Goan Womens Appreciation Day on Nov 16 NT News Desk Panaji Nov 8: The Goa Sudharop Community Development Inc will be celebrating International Goan Womens Appreciation Day on November 16 in all parts of the world where Goans have made their home, says a press release issued here. While the main event will be staged at Lake Merritt Sailboat House in Oakland, California, ethnic Goenkars will shower their appreciation on the women in their lives - mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, aunts, grandmothers, cousins, nieces, granddaughters......and friends, at the Caritas Holiday Home Conference hall, St Inez, Panjim. The release says that Goa Sudharop recognises the crucial and vital role played by Goan women throughout the development and sustenance of Goan society and has come up with this unique and novel way of thanking their womenfolk - who initially only kept the home fires burning while the nomadic males sailed the seven seas or ventured far from home to provide for their families, but later, not only stood shoulder-to-shoulder with their male counterparts in providing for their families, but many also excelled in their chosen career. Sudharop is a Konkani word that means betterment. This word aptly summarizes the Goa Sudharop goals for sustainable development of Goa and the betterment of ethnic Goans world wide, informs the release. 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 posted : rene barreto 0000000000000000 ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
