(H) 2012: A VISION FOR GOA'S SERVICE SECTOR: The economic history of Goa makes it clear that this region has always been a cosmopolitan trade emporium for the goods and goodies from the Deccan markets. Trade and commerce is in the economic vein of Goa. The major driving forces which would boost the service sector would be the rapid urbansiation and tourism. These would generate location specific demands. A single apartment complex with just 500 residents is sufficient to sustain more than a dozen shops. Potential consumers are generating such demands.
