SALVADOR DO MUNDO CAN BE A MODEL: Bardez's Salvador do Mundo village could get converted into a model for rural planning and development. This plan is being worked on by prominent architect Gerard de Cunha's firm Architecture Autonomous. If things go as planned, it is expected to enliven the sleepy village with the potential of placing it on the eco-tourism map, besides generating employment for the villagers. Plans envisage a better environment for the village, better economy, quality of life, without any major infrastructure development like software parks. Instead the village will have nature walks, springs, and even canoe rides to the nearby island of Chorao, another ecologically important place. Houses here could be refurbished, and the village will be given some identity, the prominent architect suggested.
