Hinduism has absorbed different rulers at different times just like the octopus does its prey, by offering least resistance or fight and adapting to the new concept. If it was otherwise, Hinduism would have been wiped out of the soil of Hindustan centuries ago. Its tolerant nature has psychologically neutralized the radicalness of alien philosophies (religions etc) while strengthening its own standing and gaining respectability. What is happening today is the bastardisation of that centuries old tradition of tolerance and accomodation. And it has nothing to do with God or religion. It is the dying fight for brahamanical supremacy and a weapon to capture political power. What happened in Gujarat is the eyeopener. Today, I am a Christian, born into a Christian family of converted hindu family a long time ago. My ancestors were hindu and their deity was Rawalnath. By default Rawalnath becomes my deity too. And who is to tell me that I am wrong? Togadia? Singal? Sudarshan? Advani and Vajpayee? Or for that matter Manohar Parrikar and Velingkar? Today I have grown up in a different culture and a different mindset. And I do not want to go back to the culture of my ancestors nor do I feel ashamed of my present status. History is history. Any attempts by these radicals to undo the history will be met with stiff resistance, stiffer than these trouble makers think of, atleast, here in Goa. Let them, who want to dig up the historical dirt, take careful note. Goans, irrespective of whether they are Hindus, Christian or Muslim know their history. And they have chosen to bury it in the historical archieves. It pertains to us all and we do not want to be provoked by rank outsiders and very Goans who are born of this soil, who have allowed themselves and their minds to be perverted. No one here in Goa or for that matter their collaborators in the highest of centres of power in Delhi will be able to change that. Stick to 'governance" and leave religions and matters of faith alone. This is my humble message. St. Francis Xavier is the Patron Saint of Goa, my Patron Saint, my ancestor's Patron Saint, just like Ravalnath and Sateri are my ancestor's deities. And he will remain GOEMCHO SAIB until the end of time or until people who share my feelings walk on the soil of Goa with their heads high. If any one wants to challenge this from the back-door, so be it. But if anyone is spoiling for a fight, please come forward upfront. The question of majority and minority is irrelevant as far as Goa is concerned. We Goans do not look at things in this context like in Gujarat or elsewhere.
