hello goanetters, IF youre planning to head to Goa for the New Year, US-based firm Sam Link has a special gift for you a ferry service from Gateway to Panjim. "The ferry will start in the next 15 days," informs K V Gupta, managing director, Samundra Link Ferry Shipping & Cruise Services. The eight-hour-long trip will cost Rs 1,700 in the economy class and Rs 2,200 in the executive class. All meals included. The air-conditioned two-deck catamaran can seat 200 people in the economy class and another 25 in the executive class. To begin with, there will be only one catamaran a day. "In another year or so, we expect to bring in a steel mono-hull vessel, which will run on the Mumbai-Goa-Cochin-Colombo route," says Gupta. Another route they are keen on is Mumbai-Bhavnagar, which will take about seven hours. Samundra Link may also expand their scope on the Mumbai-Goa route later on. While they currently have license only to stop at Goa, the Maharashtra Economic Development Council (MEDC) is pushing for them to consider stopping in between. "We have asked them to apply for license to stop at Ratnagiri and Malvan, which are the gateways to forts and beaches in the Konkan," says Chandrakant Sadadekar of MEDC Jerry ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
