Did you know that many of the present day�s instrumental dance bands in Goa 
actually originated on Calangute beach?  Yes, it was in the mid sixties when 
various instrumental groups participated in beach shows like �PASSING SHOW� 
Beat Show, �SIMLA� Beat Show, �FOUR SQUARE� Beat Show, etc., on Calangute 
beach and ultimately some of those groups emerged as Goa�s leading 
instrumental dance bands.  Until then, there was only one established dance 
band in Goa - �JOHNSON�s Band�.  Johnson would travel with his group in 
�caminhao� from Siolim to every nook and corner of Goa to play for weddings, 
dances, etc!
