Subject: RE: Speech at SFX feast Rene's posting of the speech by Ralph DeSouza at St. Francis Xavier's feast in NY City sponsored by the Goan Association was refreshing. Excellent speech! I compliment the Goan Association of New York City for having an eminent Keynote speaker. I hope all Goan events in the Diaspora will follow that lead in having a keynote speaker at their events. After all Goan culture in not just Scotch, Sorpatel ani Susegad khobor. Dr. Yvonne (Pereira) DeSouza, the wife of Ralph DeSouza must also have certainly been a source of inspiration and a role model to the many young Goan girls and boys that a medical career in the United States is a noble profession which can be very successfully attained by Goans through dedication and hard work. This is another reason to have noteworthy speakers. If I could add to that excellent speech, I would like to borrow from the fifteenth century: What does it gain to Goans ani to Goa if we complain ani complain; Then at the end of the year we do not find EVEN ONE worthy project to support? I would strongly suggest to readers of TGF and other Goans to put aside their money EVERY YEAR (100 to 1000 units of our currency) and spend it on something to promote Goa and Goan culture either in the native land or in our own Diaspora. WE GOANS (personally and / or our children) will reap a hundred fold. Or else it becomes all talk ani hot air. :=))) Regards, Gilbert ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
