A very relevant question from Mr. Gaspar Almeida.
Aren't these same Congressmen (women) who have jumped fences and are in the MGP
and/or present BJP outfit ? Why only blame MGP and BJP ? What good did the
Congress do for Goa and Goans ?
I think the answer is pretty simple ---
Irrespective of caste, religion or party affiliations, each one was busy filling his or her own pockets!
Many of our past and present MLAs were school teachers, lawyers coming from very humble
backgrounds. Becoming an MLA or Minister has meant a carte blanche to making money! I think
most Goans have turned a blind eye to rampant corruption, as long as they themselves were not
affected.

Even the Konkani-Marathi language fiasco can be partly attributed to the Congress ?
Recently Mr. Chandrakant Keni stated this fact at the NRI-Goa meet with the Goans in Kuwait !
And this arrangements (Congress-MGP) were done when our own 'Cristao' CMs were
in the chair to keep them floating.
Anyway, nice to know that you have sharp memories of the period back in 1961.
