Dear Sir,

I read in your GoaCom Daily News Clippings 23 Dec. 2003 the following:

> TENDERS FOR "RIVER PRINCESS" SOON: Tenders will soon be floated to remove
> River Princess vessel grounded off Candolim for the last two years, the
> Chief Minister said on December 22. Replying to queries, he said everyone
> who claims to have expertise will get a chance to apply. He said it is
very
> easy to say that the ship could be removed. But there are very few parties
> in the world who can salvage the vessel without cutting it. The vessel was
> grounded in June 2001. Despite passing the Tourist Trade Act, the govt has
> not been able to remove the ship which had caused apprehensions of marine
> pollution. (H)

I bring to your notice that the "River Princess" was not grounded in June
2001 but in 2000.
The vessel is already for more than 3 (three!!) years polluting the sea and
the horizon.
It is a shame that after all those years there still is no solution.
Yours truly

Jan Friederich
