When and why did Loureno become Lawrence? Is it one of those cases I had mentioned earlier of Goans trying to pass off as anglo-indians to gain jobs in public services in British India? Are we now seeing a home-coming? I had mentioned Couto / Coutinho becoming Coutts, Dias becoming Days, etc. There are Lobow in Madras. They were Lobo originally Lobo. I have not been following this thread much. I did come across a question to me to be about adding Lawrence to the List of Goan surnames that I surmised is being done. Please by all means add Lawrence (my birth certificate) or Lourenco (my father's birth certificate) to the list. ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
