When and why did Louren�o become Lawrence? Is it one of those cases I had
mentioned earlier of Goans trying to pass off as anglo-indians to gain jobs
in public services in British India? Are we now seeing a home-coming? I had
mentioned Couto / Coutinho becoming Coutts, Dias becoming Days, etc. There
are Lobow in Madras. They were Lobo originally Lobo.

I have not been following this thread much. I did come across a question

to me to be about adding Lawrence to the List of Goan surnames that I

surmised is being done. Please by all means add Lawrence (my birth

certificate) or Lourenco (my father's birth certificate) to the list.
