I wanted to ask this a long time ago but kept postponing. Now that I saw the name "Mala" in the above clipping, I thought "now is the time". The question is: When, how and by whom was the name MALA created or coined? We used to call that ward of Panjim MOLLO. Is MALA perhaps a kind of marathisation of MOLLO, following the pattern of the Konkani name of the capital city itself which was transformed from PONNJI into PANAJI?
