I wonder if a comparision would be made of several countries during the 50's and 60's with reference to Goa in terms of economics, was the west not depressed after the 2nd world war?
The invasion of Goa clearly benefitted bharat from the sale of iron ore with Japan being its main buyer. In the 50's bharat hardly had any foreign exchange. So in the 60's it was the sale of iron ore, than came drugs for toursim, remittance from the gulf. All this has helped to prop the bharat union. What are the return for Goa? Crime, corruption, religious bigotry, Goan losing jobs, failed policies, unplanned development? With reference to Portugal, it had enough resources in Angola and Mozambique to support Goa. Oh we forget about the port of Mormugao and the Airport that has benefitted the bharati economy and its invading army. B.
