THIS MESSAGE is from DM Silveira, a former Damodar College lecturer,
ex-editor of the Free Press Journal, and also human-resource consultant
originally from Divar but based in Mumbai. Just sharing a note I got from
him. Some of you might probably know DMS, who can be contacted via email

I have a Special Wish for You for 2004!

                             May your Adbhuta Rasa
                        (sense of wonder and curiosity)
                        lead you into an out-of-the-box
                    interest/competence during the year,
so that you are a new person
                                on 1 January 2005!

Have a Great Day, every day of the New Year!

                                        DM Silveira

PS: PLEASE DON'T READ BELOW THIS LINE
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
unless you are serious about exploring a new frontier during 2004!

Now that your 'Adbhuta' has brought you across the 'barrier', here's how we
go about it:

1. Take a few minutes to recall and jot down new ideas and developments that
caught your interest during the last year.

2. Does your scan of professional-intellectual-global horizons throw up
something you haven't done or explored earlier? (Could be a new frontier in
management theory and practice, IT, behavioural science, leadership,
knowledge management, your profession, creativity, R&D etc ... The scope is
as large as your general awareness about developments in the modern world.)

3. Pick one challenging area that you might need in the coming years. (Right
now the avenue/competence may not be in demand, but you have this gut
feeling that it would help you in the future!)

4. When you have zeroed in on such an interest/competence, visualise the
level you want to achieve by 31 December 2004. Try to be practical while
still setting a stretch goal.

5. Mentally break down this achievement into four Q- Goals (Q = Quarterly,
Quantifiable). If that's tough at first, start with the first quarter
(Jan-Mar 04). Try to be specific about the time you will set apart on a
daily, weekly... basis for reading, researching, networking... so that on 31
Mar 03, you are up on the fundas of your area of choice. This process will
facilitate Q-Goals for the next quarter.

6. If you would like to share your commitment with like-minded people, email
me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] . I will be happy to post it on the "Year of
Adbhuta Rasa" page on the Future First Website. The website
(www.futurefirst.co.in) is currently under development and will be up on 1st
Feb 2004.

Let your Adbhuta Rasa unfold your genius through exploration of the world
around you!

And a parting thought from Henry David Thoreau:

"Things do not change, we change!"
