Dear Goanetters, I guess most of you might know who I am, so therefore I will not give a complete introduction. I am that Belgian guy with Goa-roots (and proud to have these!!) who is trying to find out more about his ancestors (but does not make a lot of progress). I am a social worker in Antwerp (the main Belgian harbour in the Flemish part of the city, not far from ther bordere with Holland (the Netherlands). So far for Belgian history in brief. I work as a coach for 15 -20 years old youngsters, I am not a youthworker, not a teacher, not a policeagent, not a parent, ... but more or less a little bit of all of these. I hope that these youngsters are able to improve their position and I give these young ones some tools they have but never realised they had them.
In my free time, when I am not doing my family research I am a student; International Co-operation and Intercultural Communication ( = masterdegree) . It takes two years and then you have to do a practical in another country between 6-12 weeks). The practical is meant more to watch and see how people and organisations cope with life in general. Does anyone know of organisations (schools, NGO's, ...) who might be interesting to contact? Another difficult part of this practical is that therefore one has (preferable) to stay in a host-family, because one is more likely to learn more from people in that way in stead of staying in touristlodges etcetera. Any comments? For those interested I can go in to details if necessary. Please feel free to contact me, I thought to do this between july-september 2005?!
