You will find some of the earliest legislation published in Cunha Rivara's
*Archivo Portuguez-Oriental* reprinted by Asian Educational Services, Delhi
in 10 vols. You may get them through Amazon.com, but the Library of Congress
will certainly have them in its affiliated University libraries for
consultation. In Goa you can buy them through Mrs. Lurdes Bravo da Costa,
Librarian of the Central Library, in Panjim.

Nothing that I know in English translation.

Thanks for this reference.  I wonder if you have a

good reference, preferably available at an American

library, of the early years of Portuguese rule, from

the time of Afonso Albuquerque.  I'd like to find out

more about the laws that were passed in that period.
