That will make my day! > Nascimento Caldeira ( Nasci) > Dear Nasci, You have come right to the heart of the matter: It is better not to spend the $2 million on going through the legal and other hoops set by the Church to have a canonized saint and all the rest of the money asked from us to propagate the saint, build churches etc. It is better to spend the money on things our community needs, better roads, sanitation, job creation, health care, drug and alcohol treatment etc. I have first-hand experience that trying to get a Goan saint recognized through the Churchs system is expensive, unfair, long drawn out, and almost impossible to complete. I agree with you completely when you write, Lets tell
the church to do away with the saints business as formatted at present rather then ask for an Indian Saint. That will make my day! We do not need them Obviously, we cant tell the Church that. The Church will never give up the old, expensive way. But we can and should find our own, simpler way to give our own saints their just recognition and thus avoid the controversial discussions about how these decisions are made by the Vatican.
