In the mid-nineties, India was rumored to have signed a deal to import Iraqi oil for $10 a barrel. Since the Congress was in power during those years, it is quite likely that Saddam tried to bribe those in power to follow through on the deal in violation of UN sanctions. In the hope, I presume, that India's action would lead other countries to break UN sanctions as well. -Tariq __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New Yahoo!
