Inquisition or justice by another name!

Response:
Thanks Dr. Santosh Helekar for asking for my specific opinion.
The author of the web-article is making Dr. Dellon appear the victim of
petty jealousies and of Goa's Inquisition and the usual "Heresy and
Blasphemy" charge. In my analysis, Dr. Dillon may be the villain and the
true scoundrel. Dr Dellon was a doctor and in all likelihood the
physician of the woman over whom he admits having an amorous (more than
a platonic) interest. He is at minimum guilty of very poor political and
medical judgment. In all likelihood he is also guilty of medical
misconduct. In today's practice of medicine in the USA and Britain, he
would loose his medical license if he was involved in any 'monkey
business' with the lady. Should we call it Inquisition or a variation
like multi-million dollar law-suit with a third going to the lawyers?

Let me try to understand what Gilbert is saying here. He appears to be
saying that the real history behind the inquisition is something
entirely different. The inquisition was not what people thought it was.
It was merely a system of justice to prosecute people who had actually
committed all sorts of crimes, and who would have been prosecuted today
anyhow. In Dellon's case it could have been adultery on his part or
petty jealousy on the Governor's part. Am I correct in this assessment?
