Marlon, (but with respect if you did not originate this discussion which has a Mr Das and a Mr Menezes in the email I received)
Re your proposal to use DNA testing to separate real Goans from others, I am not sure whether you are serious or joking! If you are serious, any DNA testing will demonstrate that the Goans, of whom you talk, have a lot of African background rather than your 'precious' Portuguese connections. Even without DNA testing, one can see distinct African features in many Goans. This is especially true for some specific village folk in Goa, who claim to be "pure Goans", but ironically, display strong African features. These features arise not only from the earliest migrations out of Africa into the subcontinent, but later infusions of African blood through Mozambique soldiery which they try to deny to their own mirror reflections. Such people have fooled gullible indviduals for a long time but they have reached the end of the road to self foolery as a consequence of widespread education. I personally abhor the past Portuguese domination in Goa and it has been a mystery to me, how a backward European power, then and now, could have colonised Indian Goan Catholic minds so totally, apart from the probability that, Roman Catholicism proved to be the perfect opiate for Goan believers. In simple terms, the senses were dulled into any form of intelligent/independent thinking. Marlon, you really need to wake up but I thank you you for giving me the opportunity to get this off my chest!
