Bai Sharon provided a song each in these categories. However the skin tight clothing disproportionately short dress compared to her vital statistics evoked murmurs of criticism. There is much our women tiatrist should learn both in dress attire as a vulgar outfit destroys the soul of music. While make-up of a heavily powdered face or thick splash of rouge and lipstick does not go well with the innovative lightings unlike the days of "petromax" and destroys the original facial appearances.
This needs to be checked. Cristao women in Goa need to evolve a proper dress code in the changing demographic composition of the State.

Dear Mr. Gonsalves,
I agree with you that some of the outfits that female actresses wear in Konkani tiatrs are nothing short of repulsive. But I am not referring to the 'length' of the skirt or the 'skin tight' nature of the outfits. A woman who can carry an outfit well can look dignified even in a bikini, or in fact with nothing on. What makes females in tiatrs look ridiculous is that most often the outfits are not at all suited/designed for the physical shape and condition of the actresses..
But then maybe we should also look at tiatr outfits in general, not just of females. Why does the 'bhatkar' always have to wear a house-coat at home and most often smoke a pipe? And why does the younger 'bhatkar' always have to wear suspenders? The cook/drunk/comedian always has a long-short pant and a 'loud' shirt.
If you take an even broader view you could also question why the evil vamp/mother-in-law has to screech her lines. Why the hero has to face one diagonal front corner of the stage while dramatically addressing a person behind him. Why the background building sceneries do not follow the basic rules of perspective drawing. Why are forest backgrounds so packed with alien and unnatural thick trees and no local fauna. Why does the drummer's head silhouette always have to appear above the stage floor. Why is a drummer needed at all when all the other music is sequenced and controlled via keyboard?
Maybe these are unique aspects of tiatr as an art form that have to remain that way. Perhaps the exaggeration and ridiculousness is what makes a tiatr what it is. Could some tiatr pundits enlighten us?
And Mr. Gonsalves, I could like some further elaboration on what you meant by "Cristao women in Goa need to evolve a proper dress code in the changing demographic composition of the State". Are you suggesting that Christian women should dress more "Indian-like"? Why?
Cecil
