Headline: Band off to the sun to save stray dogs. Big-hearted Black Country band The Trojans are jetting off to Goa to help stray dogs. The six-piece reggae/blues/soul outfit will be playing at an annual festival next week - and any money raised will be donated to the Stray Dogs and Animals of Goa appeal. Band percussionist Mark Tromans, from Hagley, said the charity urgently needs donations to continue to provide vital veterinary treatment to stray dogs. He added: "Goa has a tremendous amount of wild animals that roam the streets and beaches. The majority of these are stray dogs, which unfortunately when ill can be overlooked. "The charitable organisation does its utmost to rescue these poor animals, but it is under a great deal of pressure because of the sheer amount of treatment required." Kind-hearted businesses - Asgard Volvo in Stourbridge, Birmingham radio stations Heart FM and Galaxy, O'Neills in Birmingham and wwwrentapad.com based in Birmingham - have donated cash towards the trip. Mark, aged 45, added: "We are delighted with the interest and support shown by the generous companies and we are looking forward to raising as much as possible for the charity." Bandmates Mark and wife Bebe Tromans on vocals, Spike on drums, Tariq on guitar, Matt Small on bass and Arfen on lead guitar - will be performing to a total of 10,000 during the two-week trip - and their biggest single gig will be in front of a crowd of 4,000.
