[Goanet]Goan place names - Panjim & Panaji

Floriano Lobo's comment on Mhapsa v/s Mapusa, and subsequent discussion, 
has raised the issue of place names in Goa again. Below I have typed 
verbatim the text of an advertisement released, a few months back, in the 
local newspapers by the Corporation of The City of Panjim. You will notice 
how "Panaji" and "Panjim" have been both used in an 'official' Government 
advertisement. This caught my attention at the time but rather than make an 
issue about it I though it best to let it pass. The advertisement text is a 
perfect example of how many variations in spelling can be used without 
causing any harm, hurting sentiments, or causing confusion.

There are various instances of places even in the (supposedly) developed 
West where a city / region uses two or more different names, or spellings 
of names.

A city by any name, without a proper sewerage system, still smells the same.

touch with me with their best offer. I own the domain name. Before you make 
some measly offer keep in mind that www.panjim.org already is taken my the 
Municipal Corporation. The domain name www.panjim.com was last being quoted 
(two years back) at three lakh rupees by the owner. Think big!
