The Shiv Sena made it's annual nominal protest.
Q.: "What exactly are you protesting against?"
A.: "We object to the commercialisation of Carnival and Valentine's Day and such things. This is not party of our Indian culture. Also there is so much sound pollution that nobody can sleep."
Q.: "What exactly is the significance of auctioning coconuts and bananas at Nataks with funnel speakers at full blast? The bidders are in front of the stage. Why does the whole village need to hear the auction in the middle of the night? Isn't this commercialisation and sound pollution?"
A.: "But that is part of our Indian culture!"
----------
The Bailancho Saad also made their token protest. Of course they protest any and everything without studying the matter, so nobody pays heed to their protests any more.
Q.: "What exactly do you object to?"
A.: "We object to women being treated as objects."
Q.:"When did this happen."
A.: :"Every year, for the last twenty years!"
Q.:"Please explain."
A.: "Last year there was one float where girls were dressed like different fruits and vegetables. And the year before that there was this commercial float for a beer where females were dressed like beer cans with only their arms, feet and head visible. And the year before... "
Q.: "I thought you were talking about revealing outfits. These costumes were revealing nothing!"
A.: "They are being treated like objects. Beer cans, vegetables, fruits... these are all objects. We object to women being treated as objects!"
Q.: "Do you object to objects being treated as women?"
A.: "We object to everything concerning women. We find everything objectionable."
----------
Stay tuned for more protest reports as they come in.
