Gilbert: Now as you have well stated, (and I fully agree) the aim of the inquisition OR MORE CORRECTLY the Portuguese colonial atrocities is to displace the native Goans (obviously Hindus) and undertake a "land grab". The question is: Why was a land-grab needed? - Stupid but fundamental question. Answer: To settle all those immigrants from Portugal, who as stated were pouring in their thousands into Goa to get away from Portugal ani Spain - for a whole variety of reasons.
Tariq: Fine. But then explain why were Jews who were coming as refugees in "boat-loads" being victimized? They did not own any land in Goa. So if the Inquisition was about land grabbing, why were Jews killed? This logic does not make sense. The Portuguese tortured, killed and annexed the land of the Hindus so that they could resettle Jewish refugees and then (gasp!) went on to torture and kill these same Jewish refugees?
