Dear Friends, This year I happend to be present for 'Annual Day' of my daughter who is studying in primary school in Mumbai. The chief guest ( Bishop) concluded the show with the flwg message to the parents:
Quote While doing Maths homework a mother heard her son: "One and one, the son-of-a-bitch is two." "Two and two, the son-of-a-bitch is four." "Three and three... " The mother interrupted, asking where he had learned this way of doing math. The son remarked that his teacher Ms. Clara taught him. His mother was rather upset and told him to stop the homework. The next day she stormed into her sons classroom and confronted Ms. Clara. She told the teacher about her sons different way of doing math and his claims that the teacher taught it that way to the class. The teacher was flabbergasted. She said that she couldn't understand why her son had said what he did. Then suddenly, Ms Clara exclaimed, "Oh, I know... here in school we say, one and one, the sum-of-which is two." Ms. Clara then asked the mother if anyone in the house uses the word 'bitch'. The mother hesitating replied that her husband was using that word very often in the house. So you see dear parents, the best education the parent can give to a child begins from home. Your children are, what you are....they learn faster from their parents then what the teachers teach......... Unquote A similar pattern of homeschooling is prevalent in Mumbai, even though children attend school. Parents have to put in extra hours or give private tutions at home if they want their children to excel. Parents who homeschool do provide opportunities for their children to socialize with other children via activities like scouting, sports, drama, church, etc. It's not like we keep them at home 24/7 :-) ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
