The statement of the traffic police that they will launch a drive from next week to enforce the law against cars with tinted glasses will fool no one. If the police are serious about their initiative they only have to park themselves outside the Secretariat at Panjim and they will find most of the cars with tinted glasses. If the police have any spine, patrolling outside the residences of Ministers will yield a still bigger catch of a whole range of plush cars with tinted glasses.
If our tainted politicians their chums and brokers feel so comfortable in cars with tinted glasses there's nothing the police can do about it. So why enforce the law only against ordinary citizens and favour the big fishes? The police force today is politicized as never before. The attempt to hush up last week's horryfying murder at Margao of a young bride by a wealthy and politically well connected bridegroom is very disturbing. This sends just one message to the people of Goa. If you are wealthy and have all the political connections please commit all the crimes you want as the law enforcers will bless you by being on your side. Is somebody listening?
