However, out of total 30 murders, the investigating officials have managed to achieve breakthrough in only 20 cases while the rest are yet to be investigated.
The Ranjita murder case which was reported at Miramar, the police are yet to arrest the four alleged accused though they have been identified by the victim's husband, Mr Ajay Digamber Chodankar. The accused in the murder case are from St Esteves.
Another murder which was reported at Petkem-Darbandora, in which a driver of a truck, Raju Tokalwad from Nanded, Maharashtra was killed with a pointed weapon and the body was thrown on the national highway-A-4 and cleaner of the truck MH-26/B-8776 Shankar Bansode resident of Dongarkada has been absconding since then.
On December 10, 2003 a resident of Mangor Hill, Vasco, Mr Ranjit Singh complaint that three unknown persons, staying at Pravasi Hotel had hired a tourist taxi, GA-02-V-4525 to Bondla and killed the driver, Bamkin Sarkar and dumped the body in Bondla jungles and decamped with Rs 4 lakh.
Two days later, at Wadamol Sangod, Mollem the unidentified accused killed a man and threw the body in the jungles to destroy the evidence, with both hands and legs tied with locally made chain and chain was locked with a padlock. Identity of the deceased is yet to be established.
One Mr Pedro Rodrigues from Khariwada, Vasco had lodged the complaint stating that one Vishnu (full name unknown) from Ratnagiri, Maharashtra killed his associate Ashok also from Ratnagiri on the spot while them were on a trawler 'Samudra Kamal' at Khariwada. The case is still under investigation.
In another case, some unknown culprits at Borda, Margao effected entry into a house of one Bridget Pereira, aged 84-years by removing the roof tiles and ransacked her house before killing her by strangulating with a nylon rope. Motive was wrongful gain. During the course of investigation it was revealed that the said lady was residing alone and had no issues and her husbands had also expired some years back. There is absolutely no information available what was robbed from the house.
