ACCUSED SPILLS BEANS: The attempted robbery at "Shobha Jewellers" on Monday was an operation gone awry. One of the arrested accused, Santosh Gunaji Khandagale, a native of Pune has spilled the beans yesterday. The police are confident of arresting the absconding accused Gajanan Desai also from Pune but a Goan by birth having relatives in Pernem. (GT) HUGE HAUL OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS AT CALANGUTE: In a major raid on March 16, the Food and Drugs Administration seized a stock of prescription drugs worth about Rs.1.5 lakh, besides freezing about Rs.75,000 worth of similar drugs, from an alleged unlicenced chemist based at Calangute. A huge stock of drugs like Sidenafil, Mephentermine tablets, Ketamine injections and Nitrezepam tablets, were seized in the raid.The foreign connection to this demand along the coastal belt is the major market. Barricades and a huge police force blocked the access to the beach on March 15. It is learnt that the only intimation the hundreds of business establishments on this coastline was from a lady who spoke in Konkani and asked the shack owners and other business establishments to kindly open their establishments early as the shooting for the film was to take place.
