Residents Goan to raise cash for Indian street children RESIDENTS at a sheltered housing complex in West Lothian are raising money for a childrens home in India. The El-Shaddai Home for orphans and street children in Goa will benefit from the fundraising drive by residents of Hanover House and Hanover Court in Livingston. The complexs weekend cook, Kathleen Blyth, already sponsors nine-year-old Pravin Bhaidkar, who is cared for at the home. When residents learned that Ms Blyth was shortly travelling to Goa to visit him, they decided to collect money for gifts. "The El-Shaddai Home not only rescues abandoned children and street children, but teaches them English and gives them a uniform, so that they can attend the local state school," said Ms Blyth. "I am really looking forward to seeing him [Pravin] again and delighted that the gift from the Hanover residents will give all the children something a wee bit extra." Complex manager Mary Clarke said: "They wanted to do something to make a difference to these childrens lives and have started a programme of fund-raising events including selling quiz sheets, a coffee afternoon, a prize bingo and tombola and an evening of entertainment. We are hoping to raise around 400 for Kathleen to take with her to Goa." -- ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
