REMO TO LEAD HOMAGE TO LATE MOTHER ROSALINA
DR. P. S. PASRICHA TO INAUGURATE
DR. NANDKUMAR TO DELIVER KEYNOTE ADDRESS.

The Director General of Police, Maharashtra, Dr. P. S. Pasricha, IPS,
the person behind Mumbai's streamlined traffic, will fly to Goa to
inaugurate the first ever Goa Marg Suraksha Parishad to be held
at Institute Menezes Braganza on the 3 & 4th April, Saturday & Sunday.

Goa Chamber of Commerce President Nitin Kunkolienkar will chair
the inaugural session in which Dr. Nandkumar Kamat, Project Scientist,
Goa University, will deliver keynote address .

The inaugural session will follow the homage at Azad Maidan lead by
Remo Fernandes, Goa's popular singer, to late mother Rosalina Costa
from Canacona whose four member family was wiped out in a car
accident at Verna last September and Rosalina herself succumbed
to the mental agony and shock over the loss of her dear ones. Remo
himself has lost his four friends in a similar accident in Punjab years back.

Session no. 1
Inauguration over, women from different strata of the society and from
different talukas of Goa will gather to call upon the Goa Government
on behalf of Goan mothers to take immediate measures to halt this
carnage on the Goan roads. They will also speak about their experiences
when travelling in buses, rickshaws etc. Ujwala Tarkar is the convenor
of this session which will be chaired by Suman Pednekar, former Director
of Education.

Session no. 2

The afternoon session will be totally a student affair. Students from
various institutions will narrate their experiences while travelling to
and from schools. Rama Murkunde is the convenor and Dr. Sonia Sirsat
will chair this session. Adv. Satish Sonak, student leader of yester years
will be the guest speaker. He will recall his reminiscences about the
movement the students carried on in Goa 25 years back and secured
50% discount in bus fare for students.

Session no. 3
The third and last session of the day will witness eleven talukas
represented by their citizens representatives who will place before
the audience traffic and transport situation in their specific talukas.
Roland Martins will be the convenor, Dr. Tanaji Halarnakar the
Chairman and Subhash Sajne the moderator in this session.

Group Discussions
The Sunday morning is reserved for group discussions only.
Three different groups sitting apart will discuss about the allotted
topics such as the Problems of pedestrians and commuters;
Road Engineering, Law enforcement, Accidents and Education.

Participants in these groups will be Jagdish Wagh, Gurudas Juwarkar,
Anand Madgaonkar, N. Shivdas. Rajani Bhembre. Shailesh Sansguiri,
Pravin Sabnis, Dr. Narayan Dessai, Tomazinho Cardozo, Kalidas Marathe,
Manikrau Gaunekar, Pravin Sabnis and others.

A poetry session chaired by Ramesh Veluskar and moderated by
Nutan Sakhardande will offer poems dedicated to the road.

The valedictory function will have Shri D. S. Negi, Chief Secretary,
Govt. of Goa, as Chief Guest and Datta D. Naik, social thinker as the
Chairperson. Professor Kashinath Kelekar will sum up the deliberations
of the conference. Raghuvir Vernekar will be the Master of Ceremony
for the inaugural and valedictory functions.

Citiuzens are requested to register themselves as delegates as early
as possible to avoid last minute rush at Menezes Braganza Hall.
