The much awaited 11th Konkani Album �MATARPONN� by Rosary Ferns was released at Hotel Village Inn at 8.00 p.m. on 25th March 2004 in the form of CD & Audio Cassette. Rosary Ferns is the first expatriate Goan and possibly the first Konkani artiste to release his Audio Cassette by being in a foreign country. He also carries the unique distinction of producing and releasing the first ever Konkani CD and that too in Kuwait some years back during the Mando Festival function held at Hotel Plaza organized by Kuwait Konknni Kendr. This historic CD was released thru the hands of yet another Konkani promoter, Konkani lover and Konkani supporter Raymond D�Sa from Apora Bardez and in Kuwait the president of Goan Overseas Association.
The function for the release of Rosary�s 11th Album was attended amongst others by well known Tiatrists Marcus Vaz, Bab Agnelo, Domnick Araujo, Manuel de Santa Cruz, Ms Sandra Fernandes & Bernard Fernandes. The Album was released jointly thru the hands of Chief Guest Lawry Pinto and Guest of Honour Frankie Sequeira, the former is the president of Youth Recreation Centre (Rising Stars) and Gen. Sec. of prestigious Indian Arts Circle, while the latter is the president of Bombay Boys Club and both are social worker who volunteer to help many of the good causes in the community. The Album �Matarponn� produced by Sinaris in Goa and dedicated by Rosary Ferns to his brother Fidelis Fernandes with special thanks to Mickey Pacheco (Minister for Sports and Tourism � Goa), Lawry Pinto, Frankie Sequeira and Luis Cardoso (Kuwait Konknni Kendr). Musical score for this Album was provided by well-known Maestro Josinho.
�Matarpon� consists of 10 songs of which 5 were played during the function. The title song rendered by Rosary Ferns revolved around different phases of human life leading finally to Old age. This is somewhat similar to what Shakesphere depicted 7 stages of life in his last tragi-comedy drama �As You Like It�. The 2nd song �Fuddar Tuzo Kor� by Naphie Rod is on her regret over the betrayal of her lover. The 3rd rendered by Prince Jacob �Tourist� mocks the tourism industry in Goa. The 4th �Bhau-Bhau� rendered by Bab Andrew describes the split in the family life because of the dispute creating daughters-in-law. The 5th �Kazari� by Rosary Ferns along with his young niece Jessica speaks of the girls regret for unknowingly falling in love with a married man. The 6th �Goa� by Rosary Ferns along with his singer sister Antonette, Lawry and Andrew. describes the greatness of Goa. The 7th is the duet rendered by Jessie Dias and C. D�Silva �Inam Khoxttancho� in which they both lament the ingratitude of their son. The 8th is the solo �Melody King� on the late Alfred Rose in which Rosary describes Alfi�s greatness. The 9th �Bhogsonnem� by Melody Prince Lawry describes the love of forgiveness of a mother towards her son. The 10th by Naphie Rod on �Vasco Portrust-an�. It was earlier rendered in Kuwait as Mando during the Songit Sanz organized by Kuwait Konknni Kendr a year back. It is a very romantic song and one does not get tired to listen to this song and moreover it was very nicely rendered by Naphie Rod with her mellifluent voice. The other songs which earlier rendered in Kuwait were Matarpon during the same Songit Sanz and it was acclaimed as the best in that Songit Sanz. Later on it was also rendered during the last Goa Day Function held at IAC Funaitees by Goan Welfare Society; it was done on kind request of GWS. �Goa� is yet another beautiful song earlier rendered in the Musical Show organized by Konkani Heritage Kuwait. A genuine Goan will never shy away from listening to this song a thousand times. Yet another song which was earlier rendered in Kuwait was �Melody King� during the recently organized Musical Show by Lawry Pinto�s Club Youth Recreation Centre.
During the function a galaxy of speakers rendered their speeches in praise of Rosary Ferns. Mr. Fidelis Fernandes the President of Konkani Heritage Kuwait in a brief speech welcomed the gathering and conducted the ceremony of releasing the Album. While speaking he gave detailed explanation of his musically conscious family, his father�s encouragement for them to promote dramatic art and how his youngest and last brother Rosary Ferns alone in the family carried forward this art. Fidelis also told how Rosary Ferns was named after the death of their eldest brother who died at an early age. Rosary Ferns then spoke at length about this Album and thanked everyone who helped him to produce this Album. In a special way he thanked and lauded the contribution of his brother Fidelis for helping him to move ahead in promotion of his talents. He also thanked Fidelis for organizing this function for releasing his Album. This function was organized on behalf of Konkani Dramatic Art Lovers. Elvino Rodrigues the president of KKK in his speech lauded the good deeds of Rosary. He in a special way appreciated Rosary for encouraging many artistes to develop. Ms Sandra in her impressive speech thanked Rosary for giving her strong push to come up on Konkani Stage by bringing out her inborn talents. She later said that it was Rosary Ferns who is responsible to bring her into limelight first by giving her an opportunity in his play �Dev Pavta� and leading her to gain first prize in singing competition. It was nice on her part to acknowledge the assistance of Rosary where normally many do not do. Marcus Vaz said Rosary is the most precious and priceless artiste whose works speak volumes of his greatness and went further saying that there is nobody on Konkani Stage currently whom we can compare to Rosary. In Kuwait Rosary Ferns is the best said Marcus adding that Rosary Ferns is not a desctructive person, never uses his talent to pull down other artistes. While concluding Marcus said he will associate with Rosary Ferns for anything and everything in the promotion of Tiatro adding that it is a gift for us to have such an artiste amongst us. Fr. Melwyn while praising Rosary�s talent singled out the song Matarpon where Rosary described human stages beautifully. Fr. Melwyn decried the trend amongst us in opening more and more Old Age Houses wherein we dump our old parents like dead stock. It was a very interesting comment. Lawry Pinto appreciated good work of Rosary Ferns in the field of Dramas so also Frankie Sequeira and assued Rosary of their total support in the future. Mr. Kumar the Chairman of Indian Society of Aviation Staff that was responsible to bring Remo Fernandes to Kuwait recently was astonished to experience such a glamorous function and appreciated the excellent work of Rosary in the promotion of Tiatrical art and assured all his help in the future for such activities. Alexandre Fernandes a Konkani activities from Colva who knows Rosary Ferns as a small child and brought up under the guidance of Rosary�s father Jose Luis Fernandes who was the educationist and founder of Infant Jesus High School, Colva, gave detailed account of Rosary�s activities from childhood.
