Can anybody offer advice for a problem that I have. I live in Goa for 6 months of the year and for the other six months I live in England where I own my own property and have a regular source of income. I have been visiting and living in Goa for the last 5 years and have made many friends throughout the years. One Goan family in particular have almost become my surrogate family whilst living out their. On many occasions I have said to the families oldest son how interesting it would be for him to spend a short holiday in England, to not only improve his English but also to learn about other cultures, as he has never travelled outside of Goa. He would be able to stay with me whilst on holiday in Engalnd and I would also be able to support him financially and assist with any medical bills, should he end up in hospital.
I have spoken to the British High Commission in Mumbai regarding a tourist visa. They have said that he would be highly unlikely to get granted a visa because of his age (27 yrs) and the fact that he is single. Does anybody have any suggestions of alternatives? Somebody mentioned about applying for a temporary student visa, but I presume this would involve enrolling him on an adult education course and asking the college to write a letter to the British High Commission. Any suggestions would be very welcome.
