While Chirstians world over were amidst day long religious ceremony in all places of worship on GOOD FRIDAY a public holiday; the parishioners of Margao were witnessing the film " The Passion of Jesus Christ" dubbed in English which is currently witnessed by large audiences world wide. It was Dr Edwin Araujo of Benaulim who made available this film and was shown by M/s ZENIX Electronics
The two hour film which began at 1110 hrs IST and lasted until 1310 hrs in Our Lady of Grace Church Margao shown on TV screens as well had touching scenes of almost an hour portraying vividly the scourging of our Lord Jesus Christ. The photography in available light, good choreography sound accoustics was excellently portrayed and befitting the solemn ocassion. The church was packed to capacity with a fair share of priests and nuns on a reasonably humid 65% afternoon. To Christians world wide the cruxifixion is a rememberance of the agony that Christ who suffered for humanity to redeem us of the evils of this world. Today there are several hyprocrites, opportunists or the famed "whited sephulcres" amongst the Christian bretheren and while they indulge in religious rites and rituals and sigh "Praise the Lord" "Alleluia" at the drop of a hat no matter what the ocassion and also claim to have suddenly discovered "healing powers" almost at the drop of a hat; just one in a thousand practice the Christian way of life ..... which translated means helping one another caring and sharing or showing lpve compassion and concern for the downtrodden amongst our own brethren. A proof of this is clear from the fact that in the both the Civil and Criminal Courts in Goa the highest number of litigants are the Catholics. The litigants astonishingly are parents against each other children against one another relatives against one another neighbours against neighbours -- several criminal cases involving marriages broken alcoholism drug abuse sodomy rape cruelty bestailty gluttony and craze for materialism and easy way of life etc Surprisingly in the Catholic dominated belt of the prosperous talukas of Salcete Mormugao Tiswadi and Bardez the Catholics are holding good postions in the Goa Government as clerks stenographers typist Head Clerks Personal Assistants (to top bureaucrats thus can easily influence decision making ) or as Junior and Senior Civil service officers yet while they are often seen attending to religious rites and rituals or religious by the Daily Flash in English or Konkani and visit POTA on Kerala or other Bible preaching open air functions now that Velankani visits are reduced they seldom practice the "Christian way of life" in day to day life but only create endless problems for their fellow brethren.
