Margao - Lok Shakti, a new political front was formed by vigilant citizens and social
activists who met in Margao on the birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the
architect of Indian Constitution.

Lok Shakti has pledged to strive for the principles of justice, liberty, equality,
fraternity, secularism, scientific temper and respect for womanhood, enshrined in
Indian Constitution, and to fight politically against corruption, communalism and
fundamentalism.

The people of Goa are totally disillusioned with the present BJP government headed by
self styled, authoritarian and arrogant Chief Minister, Shri. Manohar Parrikar. His
Government is controlled by RSS, which wants to divide Goans on communal lines. The
unbridled corruption prevalent in BJP Government is a well known fact. The operative
style of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation, the IFFI related
decisions underway in Panaji are only the tip of the iceberg. In the context of the
financial mismanagement of the state of affairs, the latest report by the Comptroller
and Auditor General of India for the year ending March 31, 2002 speaks volumes and
makes a mincemeat of the Government's claims of Goa to be the best managed state in
India. The Lok Shakti feels that the vigilant citizens of Goa should not remain silent
spectators to the worsening situation.

Dr. Francisco Colaco, Adv. Amrut Kansar, Arvind Bhatikar, Gurunath Kelekar, Sitaram
Tengse, Deepa Murkunde, Vasant Karapurkar, Adv. Cleofato Almeida Coutinho, Datta
Damodar Naik, Ramesh Gawas, Adv. Bernard Souza and Damodar Mauzo have appealed to the
citizens, who are disgusted by the existing political scenario, to join Lok Shakti.

Lok Shakti will finalise its stand on various issues concerning Goa and prepare a
blueprint with positive plan in the overall interest of Goa.
