Dear Jorgebab,

I loathe to disagree with you. You are almost always right. Even so ->

I remain surprised at your assertion that "in devnagri script there is only one letter for the sounds "j" and "z".

In the devanagri I was taught, there were (& remain) three alphabets with very close sounds: One
each for "j" as in Jose or Joao & "z" as in Zuari or Zatra, and a third - a zha as in Zhantiye.

Furthermore: If (say) my name is Jose, what gives ANYONE the right to revise it and make it Zuze - that too when writing it in the Romi script.

This is almost akin to the Chowgules conveniently revising their own names to Chougulo - to please the Portuguez!.....and writing it as Chougulo when writing in the Marathi press!

Please read under - Devanagari alphabet -

ja, jha (should be zha), za(zz) ( a soft sound written with a dot under)
