Dear George, First of all let me apologize for the umpteen typing errors in the hastily typed NT news report to satisfy Samir's enquiry, due to the lateness of the hour.
Secondly, as long as there are people (more then two), there will be different NGOs, different political parties, new, old, re-invented etc. etc to suit different needs. And we must remember that Goa is growing-up. Therefore the needs are multiple. You ask whether the vision of Lok Shakti and that of Goa Su-Raj is different. Indeed a very good question. I remember the NRI convention held at M.B. Hall where I met you face to face for the first time. In your presentation you had said that the vision for Goa must be written on the wall. And I had differed with that idea. The reason being that when any vision is projected anywhere, wall included, it tends to get a little bit bigger and distorted, out of focus etc etc. As I see it, the vision is at its best where it belongs, in one's mind. I wouldn't know what vision the newly formed front Lok Shakti has. We don't even know if it will be registered with the Election Commission as a political Party under the Representation of People Act, 1950. In time we shall come to know. As regards the vision of Goa Su-Raj Party, I can tell you straight now, as it has been at any other time since it's formation formation almost 4 years ago. (31 Aug. 2000). It is "GOOD GOVERNANCE" And we gave that vision to the Party itself through its name "Su" in Sanskrit meaning "Good" and "Raj" meaning "Governance". And since then, the vision has grown in depth and in focus. Other parties having used and misused the word "Good Governance" we are now forced to call it "Effective Good Governance", knowing well that any governance must not only be good, but it must be seen to be good. Incidentally, the Goa Su-Raj Party will be shortly coming out with its "PARTY MANIFESTO" (not Election Manifesto) which will reflect the Party's stand. And once that is done, the Party's vision will have been focused to the extent of being a laser beam. And this vision will not be due to our efforts for just 4 years, but goes much much longer then that, a life-time, you may say. As regards to your question if there is a need for another political party, I have already answered that question above. But I shall go a bit further to say that nothing is permanent. Parties come and go. Maybe Goa Su-Raj will also vanish from the scene a few years from now. Therefore, irrespective of the existing parties, like the people will always try to find the doctor when they become ill, a different and a better doctor as according to the illness, the people will always try to find better and better recipe for governance to make it better and better. Like the sick person must make his/her choice w.r.t. the doctor, the people at large must make their choice if they deserve real good governance. We believe that the success of any party directly related to the trust-worthiness of the people behind it and the desire of the people.
