The second edition of the KONKAN FRUIT FEST organized by the Botanical Society of Goa in association with the Corporation of City of Panaji, Directorate of Agriculture, Indian Council for Agricultural Research-Goa Complex ,RFRS-Vengurla and other agencies will be held this year from 7 to 9 May as decided at the Annual General Body Meeting of the BSG on 29 February and the consultations with the Chairperson and Commissioner of CCP, Director of ICAR-Goa, Director of Agriculture and Chairman of the Western Ghat Kokum Foundation earlier this year.
All participants in KFF-1 [ details available on Google]and other enthusiasts growing fruit plants in the Konkan region have been invited to participate. Some mango exporters have also eveince interest in KFF_2. The venue will remain the Francisco Luis Gomes Garden,Campal Heritage Precint,opposite Kala Academy and Children's Park,Panaji-Goa. Those who would like to present cultural items at the venue or set up stalls promoting fruits, fruit juices, jams, jellies, toffee, wines,syrups and other products produced on home or commercial scale may please email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a copy to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] . Minor summer fruits will occupy the place of pride at the exhibition this year as a separate mango show is also being organized in the state later in the month. Pusa Arunima , a hybrid of Amprapalli and Sensation developed by Dr.Room Singh,Dr.R.R.Sharma and Dr.S.K.Bhagat of IARI, is generating interest but is unlikely to be available for the show. Amrapalli, itself is a IARI-developed hybrid of North Indian choice mango Dussheri and the South Indian Regular bearer Neelam.[The reciprocal cross is known as Mallika, popular in South India.] .
